Sally J. Meding PhD Biography

Sally is a signature member of the Southwester Watercolor Society and native of London, UK. She obtained her PhD in Freiburg, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1990. Sally began her art career shortly after arriving in California. Her studio is in Natick, MA.

Sally creates semi-abstract work in watercolor on paper. She playfully abstracts familiar everyday objects or scenes using a kaleidoscope of harmonious color and interesting shapes. Each piece is designed with either color, shape or texture as the dominant element. Many layers are involved in her process and they are usually bound together by an abstract underlying theme or pattern.

Sally has appeared on HGTV “That’s Clever” (2007), has two cover articles in Texas magazines and in published in Nita Leland’s book, “Confident Color” (North Light 2008). She has taken many workshops with well-known artists including Jane E. Jones, Miles Batt, Pat Dews, Nita Leland, Carl Dalio, Betsy Dillard Stroud and Mark Mehaffey.

Sally has work in private and corporate collections in Germany, UK, California, Texas and Massachusetts.
